New to yoga?

You don't need to be flexible, fit or experienced.

Perhaps you've always wanted to try yoga but feel you're not flexible enough. Perhaps you've had a long break from exercise. Or perhaps you're simply looking for something slower and more manageable than a typical yoga or fitness class. That's where our approach is different.

Classes are kept small and practices can be adapted to suit you. There is no pressure to keep up, perform a perfect posture or push yourself further than feels appropriate.

Your body doesn't need to fit the yoga. The practice can be adapted to you. Try your first class for £5

Why practise with Steel City Yoga?

  • Small, friendly classes. Classes are kept small so you can receive individual guidance and feel comfortable asking questions.

  • Breath-led movement. We don't rush from one posture to the next. The breath helps guide the movement and gives you time to notice how your body feels.

  • Adapted to you. There isn't one perfect version of a yoga posture. Movements can be adapted to suit different bodies, abilities and stages of life.

  • Strength as well as flexibility. Yoga isn't just about stretching. We work with strength, balance, mobility and stability too — all important for staying active and independent as we get older.

  • No pressure. No competition. No complicated choreography. No expectation that you should already know what you're doing.

  • Just time to move, breathe and practise.

Viniyoga: STEEL & SOFTNESS

Build strength without losing softness.

Steel & Softness is a 60-minute Viniyoga class combining mindful movement, strength, mobility, balance and breathwork. The practice is steady and adaptable, with time to work with your body rather than push against it. Expect simple strengthening exercises, mobility work, balance and breath-led movement. It is a slightly more spacious and accessible class, making it a good choice if you are new to yoga, returning after a break, or simply prefer a manageable daytime practice. You don't need to be flexible or particularly fit. You work at your own level, with the emphasis on building strength, confidence and ease in your body.
